New- Sitemap page.
Jan 24 2009, 7:56 PM EST | Post edited: Jan 24 2009, 7:56 PM EST
All,

Believe it or not, the site has only been going for 4 months but in that short time we have grown beyond my wildest dreams. I am amazed at the sheer amount ( 134 pages) & quality of the information we now have here. The problem is, I don't think the standard menu on the left of the screen can cope with the many sub categories & pages.

Enter the SITEMAP (http://retirephilippines.wetpaint.com/page/SITEMAP+-+CONTENTS) which lists all the main categories then all the sub categories & pages with clickable links to each. There is also a new button to the Sitemap on the home page with the other buttons to 'new content', 'new posts' and 'new pages'

I hope everyone finds this helpful in navigating the site and also to remind you of pages you perhaps have forgotten about.

Any suggestions for moving pages into other categories which may be more relevant, feel free to let me know.

My thanks to all that have contributed & continue to do so.

Uzi.

Keith, that is very, very nice. I really like it. It seems to me that if you can somehow make it more prominent it would be a real help to newbies who are exploring here. Maybe rename it "How To Live & Retire in the Philippines" or "Our Contents" or perhaps even simply "Start Exploring Here". Just thinking on the run here so may come back with something else. Then again, knowing me, I may come back like Emily Litella and say "never mind". :-D

Hi Greg,

It is actually named Sitemap - CONTENTS. It is 1st on the left index & I have the button to jump straight to it on the HOME page. Hopefully this thread will also help point newbies in the right direction.

Glad you like it & if you come back with more thoughts, I will be happy to read them.

Keith, I like this very much. It addresses one long-standing gripe I have had, which is that "Expat Life in Philippines" does not convey much of what the contents of such a section might be. Putting it in a "Site Map - Contents" page clarifies that.

Uzi, agreeing with Greg and all the others who took a positive slant of your new site map idea, i agree in total that is a much improved both idea and look and feel to the site, making it easier to navigate. As for me I wouldn't worry about changing the name to much, i mean "site map contents", if you browse some of even corporate web pages are listed at the bottom for easier navigational purposes.

I could call you a "the creator" which you are of this site, but much less confusing if i just call you Keith, even the newbies will be able to understand "site map contents"...usually our first thoughts are the best ones!!!!

Great job again buddy!

I have always found the standard index sytem confusing and at times have had to resort to the search facility to find things. I like your idea and may even copy it for my site, now there is praise for you :). One further suggestion is to delete all the other entries in the standard site page list, if that is possible, so that everybody has to go through your index.

Colin,

Unfortunately I know of no way to delete the 'Site Page' index.

I hope that the new 'I' for info icons attract the eye on the Home page as these 4 buttons cover ALL the major shortcuts to the things you want - Site Contents - New Posts - New Pages and New Content..

Cheers

Uzi.

Thanks Marie. I hope all members & visitors know it's there & that there is a link to it on the HOME page too.
